The main requests I receive on these machines are print quality matters. Obviously, these machines are getting on in age. I have found that more and more of the ones I see out in the field are employed as back up devices or have found their way into peoples offices. They do not get the utilization they use to receive and the drums are no longer reach their life cycles and are failing ahead of time.

Note : Drum issues will show on PRINTS and COPIES. When your print quality complications merely transpire on copies like black lines or lines that are blank then you might want to inspect your scanner optics and glass.

Gestetner DSM416 Possible Signs of Drum Failure

1. If you find that your equipment is giving a streak or streaks, some times fine, and other times an inch or more in width on prints and copies, you most likely have a cleaning blade or recovery blade in the drum going out. Now if it’s just on copies you very well may just want to examine your glass slit.

2. Furthermore, when you have a gray background to your prints and copies, that’s generally another sign your drum is going out.

3. Repetitive defectives that occur at detailed routine spaces are typically brought on by a nick or scuff within the drum surface which will require a drum replacement. Note : Fusers may also cause repetitive defects.

Note : It’s extremely vital that you let the piece of equipment run through this action if you expect optimal print quality after you set up a new drum. Failing to achieve this could lead to poor print quality and a potential service call to have a tech come out and do this action via service mode.
After you turn on the main power switch, the copier automatically initializes the new PCU. When the copier is executing initialization, use caution:
• Do not turn off the main power switch.
• Do not open or remove exterior covers.
