The main requests I get on this equipment is print quality matters. Plainly, these machines are getting on in age. I find that more and more of the ones I see outside in the field are used as back up units or have found their way into peoples offices. They do not get the utilization they use to generate and the drums are no longer hit their life cycles and are breaking down prematurely.

Note : Drum situations will show on PRINTS and COPIES. Should the print quality troubles just appear on copies like dark streaks or lines that are blank you very well may need to look at your scanner optics and glass.

Gestetner DSM415 Possible Signs of Drum Failure

1. If you discover that your unit is making a streak or streaks, some times fine, and other times an inch or maybe more in width on prints and copies, you most likely have a cleaning blade or recovery blade in the drum going out. Now if it’s just on copies then you might just want to inspect your glass slit.

2. Furthermore, when you’ve got a gray background to your prints and copies, that could be yet another sign your drum is going out.

3. Repetitive defectives that occur at defined routine places are usually the consequence of a chip or scrape within the drum surface which will call for a drum replacement. Note : Fusers can also cause repetitive defects.
